Home Spa Day

Hey guys,
Everyone tells you that your first year of Uni is easier than your a-levels, but that doesn't mean it's without stress. I handed in two essays on Monday and Tuesday so I think I'm definitely in need of a Spa Day, except a more student friendly at home one. After all, I don't have the money to be going and getting facials. So here's my perfect at home spa day, so put on some comfy clothes and here we go!

Just like everyone else in my generation I love music. Now my favourite style of music tends to be sad music, I know, how depressing. After watching the Fault In Our Stars I went home and downloaded the soundtrack because it was my kind of music. Yet, I don't find the music that depressing, instead I find it calming. Perfect for a spa day. Here's a list of some of my current favourites!

Ghost - Halsey
If I Could Fly - One Direction
Just My Soul Responding - Amber Run
Sacrifice - Zella Day
Fire Meet Gasoline - Sia

Hair Masks
I ombre-d my hair at the beginning of summer so it definitely needs a lot more care now. For my perfect spa day I put a hair mask on, plait my hair and then leave it in for a few hours whilst I do the rest of my spa day routine. I especially love the Bleach London Reincarnation Mask

I know some people love to change up their hair colour when they have a spa day, using it to give them a confidence boost. If you're thinking of changing your hair but aren't sure which colour to try then I suggest trying Madison Reed's Hair Colour Quiz it's quick, easy and the colour it matched me with, Lucca Light Brown (7NGV), is perfect!

Face Masks
I feel like a spa day isn't complete without a face mask, to me, they're the ultimate symbol of relaxation. I love putting on a face mask whilst I'm watching something, and taking it off always makes my skin feel amazing! My favourites are the Tea Tree one from The Body Shop and the Cupcake one from Lush. The Cupcake one smells amazing and works really well!

Books vs Movies
I do a Literature degree so I think it's safe to say I love reading, and on a spa day there's nothing better than curling up with a book and some sweets, but sometimes I want to watch a movie as well, especially if I'm painting my nails. I thought I'd give you a list of some of my favourite books and movies to help you try and decide.

  • 21 Jump Street
  • 13 Going On 30
  • Pitch Perfect
  • Easy A
  • The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
  • Northern Lights - Philip Pullman
  • Inkheart - Cornelia Funke
  • Angelfall - Susan Ee

I hope you found this useful and you should definitely check out some of things I mentioned when you're planning your own spa day. Invite some friends round and make it even more fun, there's nothing better than chilling with your friends when you're in need of a relaxation day!

University Room

Hey guys,
I know, I know, long time no see, but I promise I'm back now. I've had such a busy summer that I didn't have a chance to blog. Now that I've settled into uni life though that's about to change and I'll hopefully be putting up a blog a week!

I got my a-levels back and did way better than I expected!

  • English Literature - A
  • History - A
  • English Language - B
  • Extended Project Qualification - A
Which thankfully meant I was able to get into Newcastle University. Now obviously my first post about uni life has to be a room tour! I don;t know about you but I love looking at people's uni rooms and seeing how they've decorated them. I didn't have a chance to see the accommodation before I picked so I was just hoping it would be nice. Luckily I wasn't disappointed. I absolutely love it. There's way more room than I expected and with the high ceilings it makes it look even bigger!

So without further ado, here's the photo's!

So that's my room, I hope you found that interesting. I think I'm going to be doing a series of posts on study tips so if you're interested then stay tuned!
Are any of you at Uni? If so what are you studying or if you're planning on going to Uni then what do you want to study?

Hey guys,
Sorry that I've been MIA for the past month! I've just been so busy with college that this has had to take a back seat. I've had so many deadlines, but once I've gotten majority of my coursework out of the way, I promise I'll be back!

Contour + Highlight Palette

Hey guys,
Today I'm reviewing the highlight + contour palette I got from eBay for only £3.39 (Contour Palette, 15 shades - £3.39 with free p&p). I've wanted a contour palette for so long but I just never got around to actually getting one. However, I saw this and I had to get it! For only £3.39 it was such a steal!

It had all the colours I would need and it was less than £5. What's not to love? It took less than a week to come as the seller is UK based which is awesome as when this one runs out I can order another one and I won't need to wait weeks for it to arrive!

It's just a basic contour palette with colours to suit most skin tones. Now this may seem a bit stupid but I had no idea what the green, pink or yellow colours were for until I googled them, so now that I know I'll tell you guys just in case you don't know either.

Green: This is really good at cancelling out any red areas you have, for example, around your nose or any spots you may have.

Pink: This is good for evening out fair skin tones or cancelling out purple under eyes.

Yellow: This works well on people with olive or tanned skin, and it also cancels out any dark patches or under eye circles.

It comes in this sleek, black packaging that can easily fit into your makeup bag if you are going on holiday or staying somewhere over night. It's extremely compact and it would definitely save you space in your travel bag as it contains a concealer, under eye brightener, contour colours, and highlight colours.

As you can see from the swatches some of the colours are quite orange, however, most of them are extremely usable and there's a great range of shades. I love using the two darkest shades for my contouring as they blend really easily and give my face much more definition and structure.

I'm sure you've seen these pictures before on my 'How I Contour + Highlight' post but I thought they would fit well here as they show how well the palette works in making me look like I have an actual jawline and cheekbones. This is definitely one of my favourite purchases, I just think it's so much fun to play around with contouring and highlighting.

  • They last really well throughout the day as well, not amazingly long but long enough to get you through work or a night out.
  • The colours blend really easily.
  • There's a great range of colours in the palette.
  • The price!
  • Free post and packaging.
  • I've had it for a few months and I still haven't ran out yet.
  • The palette itself is very compact.
  • Some of the colours have an orange tone to them.
  • I get the occasional spot off using the palette but it's rare and only happens if I'm having a bad skin day anyway.
If you want to get into contouring but don't know where to start then I would definitely recommend this palette as a good place to start. It's cheap and has plenty of colours so you can work out what works best for you.

  5. I don't change my bedding as often as I should.

Bargain Beauty: eBay

Hey guys,
I'm always a bit weary when it comes to shopping on eBay as I've heard so many stories about people who've been ripped of. They've either never received their products or gotten something completely different to what they actually ordered, and after hearing that horror story about a girl who bought mascara of eBay and it turned out to be paint... Yeah, we have every reason to be cautious of buying things from eBay.

I don't think I'd ever buy any mascara or eyeliner off eBay but I don't think I'd be that worried about anything else. I mean, if it's bad it might wreck my skin for a few days and make it break out but I wouldn't want anything to happen to my eyes. Because it can be quite scary to buy things off eBay I thought I would order a few things and then I could tell you guys about them. Then at least you'd know they were okay and that the seller was reliable.

So here we go...

Clear Lipstick Holder (Holds 24) - £2.47 with free p&p

I've been wanting one of these for ages but I never got around to actually getting one and whenever I looked an amazon they were always around £7 and I thought that was quite a lot for what it was... I know, I'm such a cheapskate. But I want to save money on things like this so I can spend more on the things that actually go in them. I'd been browsing eBay when I came across this, and for the price I couldn't resist. I immediately added it to my basket and checked out, it also had 5% off which was an added plus.

It took two and a half weeks to get here but I'd expected that. I was slightly disappointed when I opened it as there was a chip in it, as you can see in the photos, but for the price I didn't really mind that much and didn't query it with the seller. After all, it would soon be hidden when I put in my products. All in all I'm really happy with it. It's great for storing my lipsticks, mascaras, eye creams and other things. If you're thinking of getting one then save your money and order this one.

Blush Palette (10 Colours) - £3.81 with free p&p

I've been using the same blush for over a year as I'm not really interested in blush, I'd much rather spend my money on eye shadows and lipsticks. However, I recently hit pan on it and I decided to have a browse of eBay to see if I could find a blush palette instead of just going out and buying one colour that I'd stick to, I wanted to mix things up a bit. I saw this one and I really liked the colours so I decided to get it. The blush I'm using at the minute is a bright pink one which looks really pretty and not at all bright on your cheeks, and this palette has the same colour so I knew that I'd at least like one of the colours.

It again took about threeish weeks to come which wasn't that bad as it meant I was able to get through more of my current blush before I started to use this palette instead. I won't say much on these as I will be doing a full blog post on it, so keep your eyes open for it!

Contour Palette (15 shades) - £3.39 with free p&p

I've wanted a contour palette for so long but I just never got around to actually getting one. However, I saw this and I had to get it. It had all of the colours I would want and it was less than £5. What's not to love? It took less than a week to come as the seller is UK based which is awesome. I will be doing a full post on this so I won't say too much but it's really good and if you're new to contouring and don't want to spend a lot of money on something you might not even use then I definitely recommend this, it's really good value for money and I'll probably re-order this when it runs out.

Makeup Brushes (5 brushes) - £12.99 + £1.99 p&p

I love the real techniques brushes and I have three, however I wanted a few more but they were too expensive for me so I thought I'd go online and see what I could find. I was lucky enough to stumble across these and for roughly £2.60 per brush I couldn't resist. The arrived quickly and I was really impressed with them. The quality of them is really good considering how much they cost

They are cruelty free, elastic bristles and are super soft, they have a flat bottom which means you can stand them up. You had the choice of blue, pink and gold. I thought the blue was the nicest so I went with that and I'm really happy I did, I think the colour looks great!

I've had them for around 6 months now and they still work perfectly, I would definitely try these out if you're not sure on the real techniques brushes.

Gold Midi Rings (5pcs) - 99p with free p&p

For some reason the ones I ordered weren't showing up on my purchase history but I'm pretty sure the ones I've linked above are the same ones. I've been wanting some midi rings for a while now and I bought some from new look but they fit me weird and I didn't like the look of them, so when I saw that these were just simple gold midi rings I immediately bought them. They're exactly what I wanted! However, if you have small hands these probably won't fit you. I have really big hands and these are a touch too big, I can still wear them, they just would have been better if they were slightly smaller. They did take about a month to come but it was worth it, I love them!

Beauty Blender Dupe - 99p with free p&p

This was the only product I was disappointed with. I know you get what you pay for but because everything else I'd ordered had been good I was hoping this would be too. It didn't absorb the water and get any bigger and it was extremely unimpressive. Thankfully it was only 99p so it wasn't like I'd wasted a lot of money on it. But if you're looking for a Beauty Blender dupe then I suggest looking elsewhere.

I hope you enjoyed this post! What's your best beauty steal?
